Interlocking Hollow Block System (IHBS) is one of the IBS system that provide a better alternative as compared to traditional construction. IHBS is a load bearing block that uses new concept where no beam and column required in the construction. It will not only reduce the construction time, cost, and material, but also uses green construction techniques that produces quality and high durability. IHBS system able to solve problems such as productivity, and able to improved the sustainability & efficiency in construction. The quadrupled helix approach in between industry, academia , government and society has bring this project as success. .
1. Shared Prosperity Vision 2030 targeted to raise the standard of living and quality of life of the Malaysia citizen irrespective of socioeconomic background and geographical location. 2. Growing need for green technology and sustainable construction system, it becomes crucial to study alternative construction methods such as the Interlocking Hollow Block System (IHBS) to achieve the goal without jeopardizing the environment. 3. Depletion of natural resources such as timber, aggregates for construction materials. 4. The decrease in the labor force participation rate in construction site. 5. Traditional construction material required a longer time to construct.
The materials use needed are abundantly exist and easy to get. This can be achieved as the laterite soil and other material is a natural resources.
The use of this material should be able to reduce the cost of production up to 30-50%.
IHBS is cost effective, fast in construction, environmental friendly, not labor intensive, and natural look.
Mortar block cement - need plastering which are not cost effective.
Reduction of foreign labor needs as the method of construction is very fast and does not need skill labor.
Enhance the needs of B40 and M40 housing construction.
Reduce cost and time of construction.
