ASEAN CHILDREN ANTHROPOMORPHIC TEST MANIKIN

BOOTH NO : G1

Category : Health, Wellness & Wellbeing

ASEAN Anthropomorphic Manikins are full-size cutting-edge manikins developed using actual measurements of ASEAN children aged 6 and 10 years old. The manikins are officially launched in Dec 2021 by the Deputy Secretary-General of the Ministry of Transportation Malaysia. The primary function of these manikins is to act as child surrogates for various applications including in ASEAN NCAP's Child Restraint System Installation Assessment, as a reference tool in product design and development, and as human surrogates in training, awareness programs, and product demonstration. Additionally, these manikins could help provide better product design to ensure children's well-being, safety, ergonomics, and comfort. The utilization of these manikins is broad, including (but not limited to) vehicle safety applications, furniture & prostheses design, etc.
Product developers employ generic design references in their product development, which may result in design issues related to the users' well-being, safety, and ergonomics. For example, ASEAN NCAP and vehicle manufacturers worldwide are currently using generic anthropomorphic test devices in vehicle design and safety assessment, where significant variations to the ASEAN community in terms of body composition particularly height and weight are observed. These anthropometric variations raise concern on product design aspects relating to vehicle safety and ergonomic as improper seat belt routing, car seats that are too big for ASEAN children, loose or misaligned positioned harness/chest clip, etc. The ASEAN Children Anthropomorphic Test Manikin is established with the goal of enhancing the safety and quality of products marketed in ASEAN generally and in Malaysia specifically.
Confirmed market needs have already been established with ASEAN NCAP.
Anthropomorphic test manikin is developed to resemble an ASEAN child's actual size and weight, to replace the existing generic manikin currently used by the industry.
Cost-effective anthropomorphic test manikin for related vehicle design and safety assessment.
ASEAN NCAP will utilise the manikin as part of their vehicle assessment protocols, mandatory in 2026.
Automotive manufacturers wanting to market their vehicles in the ASEAN region will have to the manikin following ASEAN NCAP requirements. Hence, providing us with the market opportunity as the sole owner of the product.
Aftersales, maintenance, and part replacement services will be provided at some agreed cost. Furthermore, training and product demonstration will also be provided to paying customers.
We will also embark on CSR and participate in a safety awareness campaign as part of our responsibility and visibility to the public.
Business Model Canvas has been established. Business Plan is being refined.
As preparation towards mandatory utilisation from 2026, ASEAN NCAP has introduced the product to their partners and vehicle manufacturers in Feb 2022.
A cost-effective alternative to existing 6- and 10-years-old children manikin used for the ASEAN NCAP (selected) assessment procedures.
Flexible and customisable according to needs and applications.
Designers and engineers can use the product as reference tools for ergonomic product design and development of car seats, wheelchairs, furniture, and prosthetics. The manufacturers of these products can utilise the manikin for product demonstration.
Developed with fast and precise fabrication using cutting-edge manufacturing methods (3D printing and CNC machining technology) to meet customers’ demands.
Manikin parts can be assembled/disassembled according to needs and applications. Furthermore, easy part replacements can be provided to clients.
Currently, there are no manikins in the market with exact ASEAN-sized specifications.
Closest competitor is JASPER (a manikin developed by Humanetics). JASPER is based on the US anthropometric measurement and is significantly expensive compared to our ASEAN anthropomorphic manikins.
ASEAN-C10 & ASEAN-C6 have similar functions to JASPER, with comparable performance yet lower prices. ASEAN manikins can deliver the function more effectively.
