To meet the ever-growing demands on modern coatings, the paint industry continuously strives to improve their products especially to meet requirement in petrochemical industries. Therefore, over the past years nanotechnology has become more and more important in the development of coatings. Nanocoating offer great potential for various applications due to their superior characteristics that are not typically found in conventional coatings. Nanocoating gains the most practical application in industry that is produced by usage of some components at nanoscale to obtain desired properties.
Corrosion of the metals is one of the main destructive processes that lead a huge economic loss. Polymer coating systems are normally applied on a metal surface to provide a dense barrier against the corrosive species in order to protect metal structures from corrosive attack. When the barrier is damaged and the corrosive agents penetrate to the metal surface the coating system cannot stop the corrosion process. Superhydrophobic coatings on metal have proven as a solution that offers the new effective mechanism for corrosion protection by blocking the chemical reaction to occur between the metal and its surroundings.
